Got a boat?

The C-24 Canal boat launch is just up the road. It provides ocean access via the St. Lucie River. Various features of that park:

  • Approximately 9 acres
  • Four boat ramp lanes with direct river and ocean access
  • One large pavilion with 4 tables and two small pavilions with 2 tables’ each. (Water and Electric at each pavilion) one small grill at each pavilion
  • Approximately 74 parking spaces for vehicles with trailers
  • Approximately 11 parking spaces for single vehicles
  • ADA Restrooms
  • Free Wi-Fi

Park improvements include four boat ramp lanes, queuing docks, a fishing pier, picnic shelters, a fish cleaning station, parking, bathrooms, lighting, and a central wet detention pond for the 8+ acre site. Access to the site is provided with an extension of an existing city street. The City of Port St Lucie used a public involvement process which resulted in the preservation of significant trees and more than an acre of onsite wetlands.

Coordination with both Parks and Recreation and Engineering personnel resulted in additional contiguous wetland preservation on an adjacent drainage right-of-way, providing additional buffer for residents, while reducing offsite flood stages through design of provisions for offsite flows through the park facility.

This is a great public boat ramp. There is a fixed bridge at Oakley street. If you have a boat with really high vertical clearance, it would be worth looking into the clearance on that bridge.

Nearby City Parks to this Home

Just blocks away from this home is Spruce Bluff Preserve. We’ve walked in this park a few times and love walking its trails.

Two self-guiding interpretive trails cover this 97-acre site.

One loop trail describes the site of the 1891 pioneer settlement and cemetery along the banks of the St. Lucie River.

Another trail describes the significance of an early Native American mound and historic uses of native plants found along the trail.

We found several active mounds for endangered gopher tortoises.

The Jessica Clinton park is also nearby.

Located at 3200 SE Southbend Blvd., the park is named in honor of Jessica Lynne Clinton, who passed away suddenly in 2003 of an undiagnosed heart condition.

The city built a new playground specifically designed to accommodate children of all abilities, including those in wheelchairs or with other mobility concerns. For children ages 5-12, there are meandering climbing structures and wild slides. Children ages 2-5 will find a colorful geometric structure encouraging agile and exploratory activities.

On the ground level, there are gently swaying basket swings, seats and hangout pods that offer points for socializing and relaxing. A xylophone provides opportunities for sensory play, and there is a large sky-surfer, net and crawl-through tube. Large signs of positive affirmations and sign language welcome children and their families to the one-of-a-kind playground.

There also are hearts throughout the soft play surface, similar to the hearts on the road in front of the park, which honor Jessica’s memory.

Other amenities of the park include

  • Basketball Court
  • Fitness Station
  • Garden Area
  • Nature Trail
  • Open-space
  • Pavilion
  • Playground
  • Tennis Court
  • WiFi
